Just a little post to talk about some amazing fabrics.
I was lucky enough to be chosen by Claire over at TSA Jersey Fabrics Buying Group UK to sew up a strike off of skulls and roses cotton lycra. For those of you who don’t know a strike off is the test run of a fabric to make sure size of the print is right and colours are good.
The fabric arrived and as soon as I felt it it seemed different, a little firm, so much so I had to message Claire to check it was 95% cotton 5% lycra. It is, I can’t even explain what the feeling was that made it feel different I think it might have been due to the thickness of the fabric (slightly thicker then what I usually use). So I washed and dried it as I normally do (40 degree and dried in the tumble dryer which resulted in no shrinkage), and the firmness I felt seemed to lessen and I was left with this amazing soft, thick and stretchy – perfect for sewing with, fabric.
I wanted to use all the fabric so decided on an dress for Emily (to show its scale on a smaller item of clothing) and a sleep set for myself.
Emily adores her dress – which is made from a pattern by A Sparkly Baby – its the jammin jumper pattern with bubble skirt option (you can also make it with pants – its such a versatile pattern). She LOVES the pockets – I keep finding stones, flowers and shells in the pockets lol.
The sleep set for me was a little harder. I wanted to use a black stretch lace for the back and the skulls for the front. Also had to piece together the fabric to make the bottoms, I had just enough fabric to do this. This pattern is a lovely pattern from George and Ginger and if you join their facebook group you can get it for free!
So we had a fun little photo shoot – the sleep set is husband approved!
these are some of the other fabrics that are up for pre-order this round along side the skulls and roses
thanks for reading xxx
